The Place

Our nuptial celebrations are going to take place in the rustic-chic town of Evergreen, Colorado.  We're often asked, "why Evergreen?", and we have a couple of reasons.  Matt spent the first six years of his life in a town called Conifer, just 25 minutes from Evergreen.  Marlo loves the idea of getting married near the place that gave her her husband-to-be. We wanted a wedding in a meadow in Colorado, so we are having the ceremony in Evergreen which is just a hop, skip and a jump away, from Conifer. There are great places to stay, yummy restaurants and coffee shops to frequent, and an epic bar called The Little Bear. The area is gorgeous, with plenty of out-doorsy things to do. . . so, Evergreen it is!

Stransky Ranch

We will say 'I do' on the grounds of the historic Stransky Ranch in Evergreen, CO. The ranch was established in 1918 By Joseph and Carrie Stransky. Together Joseph and Carrie purchased 326 acres and  homesteaded 180 additional acres each for 3 years, living on the property six months out of each year. The Stranskys never missed a night. From May to November they tended their potato crops and raised a mighty heard cattle. Joseph and Carrie's eldest daughter, Louise, is 98 years wise and still lives in Evergreen. Her brother, Orrin, is 96 and lives in Denver. Today the ranch spans nearly 1000 acres and is host to many of Colorado's inherent graces; mighty snowcapped peaks, delicate wild flowers and magnificent fauna.

Very little of the original buildings remain on the property. Over the years the cabins and barns have succumbed to weather and decay. However, what is left of the original structures stands strong and proud at the ranch's entrance. If you're interested, you can see the old beams from the barn in the Evergreen Hotel when we party down at the Little Bear Saloon next door on Friday. And for those needing more history, I'm sure John Hendryx, the owner and grandson of Joseph and Carrie Stransky, would be more than happy recalling some old facts and memories from this majestic property.

Where to Stay in Evergreen:

This Inn is reserved exclusively for our wedding guests throughout the weekend.  This will be the main hub for all activities.  Our rehearsal dinner BBQ will be there, and we encourage anyone to stop by anytime throughout the weekend–even if you are staying elsewhere. The Inn is walking distance from everything in Evergreen, and there will be a shuttle service from the Inn to the ceremony on Sunday. Please reference the Baird/Kinsey wedding when making reservations, and make your reservation as soon as possible as space is limited.

Other options for lodging in or near Evergreen:

These cabins are just down the road from Highland Haven and line Bear Creek.  They are bit more rustic, but they're in a great location and seem perfect for a mountain-wedding get away.

Vacation Rentals
This website shows vacation rentals available for the weekend. Our wedding planner, Joanna Bailey, can help coordinate/book if you need assistance.  Please feel free to contact her at joanna@joannabaileyinc.com.

If you'd rather stay closer to Denver, we recommend staying on the west side of town.  You'll be closer to Evergreen and much closer to Pat and Ken's house!

The Marriot Denver West
We are holding a block of rooms for the weekend, so please mention the Baird/Kinsey wedding when making a reservation.

Airport Info:
For those of you flying in to Colorado, you should fly into Denver International–DIA.  For the trek up the mountain, we recommend renting a car.  Evergreen is about 45 minutes West of Denver.  However, if you'd rather not rent a car, let us know and we will do our very best to help coordinate rides from DIA to Evergreen.
